What’s that wierd tinted blue effect on my screen that comes up whenever I click on a article link?

It’s called a thickbox, so you won’t be bothered by opening a new window everytime you want to read a article.

If you want to close a page opened in a thickbox window (or cancel out of a slow loading page) you can:
(a) hit the escape key
(b) just click on the blue space ouside the loading window
(C) Either press the refresh button in your browser or the ‘F5′ key on the keyboard to refresh the browser if (a) or (b) doesn’t work.

I don’t like the ThickBox!

Well, assuming you’re using a tabbed browser (e.g. IE 7, Firefox, Opera) then you can just open each link to a new tab, otherwise just open in a new window.
