CES 2008: iriver P20, the Ultimate PMP?

In Category: Consumer Electronics News Archive on January 6, 2008 at 11:26 pm
iriver is continuing with their daily barrage of hot new players. First it was the P10, then the Homme, and now we have the P20. You might be wondering why they'd announce the P20 when they just announced the P10. Well this seems to just be a prototype. They have two different prototype models which differ slightly from one another in design. Prototype I (top picture) looks a lot more mainstream, while Prototype II has a bit too much metal for my tastes:The device is primarily being touted as the Ultimate Photo Tank for its abilities to transfer and backup RAW images directly from supported cameras (via the USB-host) with the touch of a button. Of course it'll also have support for Audio and Video, as well as a DMB tuner, FM radio and voice recorder. The P20 will come in sizes of either 120GB, or 160GB and there's also an SD-card slot for expansion. It has a 4.1 AMOLED display (16.7 million colors), which is the first of its kind. It will also be the first player to use iriver's new Spinn controls, which looks very much like an advanced jog dial. So far this is looking really good and I can't wait to find out more about it. We'll update you with more details later on.LINKThanks, Breakdown
